  School Closures

As most of you know the 5th and 6th classes took part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (J.E.P.) this year. Each class learned very valuable life-skills such as team work and skills on how to run a business.  The products which the 5th & 6th classes produced were sweet-filled class jars, pom-poms, second-hand books, buns, easter cards, book-books and pencil-holders. We had great fun. Our school did not win but we learned great skills.

At the start of the Junior Entrepreneur Programme we were divided into groups to think up business ideas. We, with the assistance of the "Dragons" decided to make and sell spinning tops. We were split into groups: finance, design, marketing, sales and purchasing. We made sure that all our spinning tops were safe and that all the spinning tops were as good as they could be. In the end we didn't win but we had a lot of fun and learned a lot about business.

On the 13thof April our class (Mr. O’Muircheartaigh’s sixth class) and 5 other classes took part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme.  Our idea was to convert used glass jars into sweet jars. We washed out old jars and brought them in to school.  Then our design team drew designs on them.  We then coloured these in and filled them with sweets.  They were sold for €2.50 - €5.00 each.  Our idea was a huge success.  We also sold pom-poms and both the jars and the pom-poms were all gone at the end.
