St. Oliver’s N.S .is participating in the Blue Star Programme for the 5th year in a row.

The idea of the Blue Star Programme is simple: to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects our lives, through classroom projects, learning and activities.

There are four core learning pillars of the Programme:

1. Historical

2. Geographical

3. Cultural & Creative

4. Institutional

The Blue Star Programme teaches primary school pupils about European cultures and the EU through creative activities and projects which complement the national primary curriculum.

Primary school pupils around the country are being challenged to get creative in how they learn and think about Europe through the Blue Star Programme!

Our pupils have been very creative across all classes e.g using mind mapping to learn of Ancient Rome, projects on Denmark & the Vikings, researching and presenting projects on EU countries, collaborative work on the EU, powerpoint presentations, building landmarks with blocks, exploring Christmas traditions in a variety of countries, celebrating diversity, including a marvellous celebration of French costume & food and painting in the style of famous artists.

Some incredible 3D art was created and displayed where children made a European landmark and great fun and learning was had completing the 4 quizzes.
