  School Closures

On Sunday 9th March 2014, eight visitors from our partner school in Buitenpost, Freisland, Holland travelled to Killarney to visit our school. Four children ( 2 boys and 2 girls) , 2 teachers and 2 directors of their school made the trip.

On Monday 10th March they all visited the School and the children participated in 5th class for the morning whilst the teachers and directors were shown various classes and how our school functioned on a daily basis. In the afternoon they went to visit Muckross House and Ladies View and in the evening the children went home to stay with their host families. The adults stayed at the Fairview Hotel in town.

On Tuesday they attended our Assembly in the halla and gave a beautiful presentation via live commentary and video of what their school is like and what their hometown and area looks like. In the afternoon they went to Dingle for a drive. On Tuesday evening a group of teachers from our school organised a meal in the Lake Hotel and the adults went for an evening out. The children went home and attended events like Irish Dancing, Football etc with Rory’s and Aileen’s children.

The two directors of the school returned on Wednesday and said that they were very impressed with our school and what was being done here for all the students and how they were very well looked after.

On Wednesday they had a lovely day out with all of our 6th class students and teachers when they went on a boat trip to Innisfallen. They had Mass there with Fr.Niall and also walked around the Island (some got lost !!) and then got a boat to The Golf Club and walked all the way back to school , through the Demesne. This was the highlight of their trip.

On Thursday they had a free day and they went on an organised Bus Trip around the Ring of Kerry, which they thoroughly enjoyed and went shopping afterwards. That evening they went for pizza with all the children.

They returned to Holland on Friday morning. They expressed great thanks to everyone for the way that they were treated whilst they visited us and said that most definitely they would be returning to visit us !!!.

A Big Thank You to everybody who was involved in looking after our guest or who helped in any way to organise any of the events for them.

Well Done.
