St. Oliver's will re-open on Thursday, August 28th 2025

  • Doors Open at 8:40 am
  • Classes commence at 8:50am
  • Junior and Senior Infant classes finish at 1:30 pm
  • 1st to 6th Classes finish at 2:30 pm

The school will be closed on the following dates

  • October Mid-term  -  Monday 27th to Friday 31st October 2025
  • December Church Holiday - Monday 8th December 2025
  • Christmas Holidays  -  Friday 19th December 2025 to Friday 2nd Jan 2026 (School closes on Friday 19th @ 12 noon and re-opens on Monday 5th of January 2026)
  • February Bank Holiday:  Monday 2nd of February 2026
  • Mid Term Break- Thurs 19th and Friday 20th February 2026
  • St. Patrick's Day  - Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th March 2026
  • Easter Holidays - Monday 30th March to Friday 10th April inclusive. (Closing on Friday 27th April @ 12 noon and re-opening on Monday 13th April 2026)
  • May Bank Holiday -  Monday 4th May 2026
  • June Bank Holiday - Monday 1st June 2026

  School Closures

This is the 20th year of promoting Environmental Education through the An Taisce, Green Schools Programme in St Oliver's Primary School.   The Theme was " Global Citizenship , Food and Biodiversity".

Over the 2 years we grew a variety of fruit and vegetables in our school garden.  We had great fun planting and experimenting with crop rotation in our beds and digging up the potatoes and onions in the Autum time.  We celebrated the Autumn harvest with our multi disciplinary classes making apple and blackberry jam, putting the kitchen kit given to us by An Taisce to good use.  They also churned their own butter and had it on slices of toast with jam.  Delicious !!

Fifth Class made vegetable soup using the vegetables and herbs from the garden.  Everyone followed the recipe and cut up all the vegetables etc with supervision.   We all tasted it and loved it.  One of the infant classes went on a visit to the KASI Gardens adjacent to the school where they say pumpkins growing and tall sunflowers.  They even got to feed the chickens .  All classes went on nature walks around the school and throughout the National Park where the children experienced biodiversity first hand. 

Amazing artwork and projets throughout the school were so exciting for the children.   One class had a bird feeder where they observed the birds feeding everyday and they presented their results digitallty .   Other classes saw the birds feeding in different locations around the school .  We also have many nest boxes in our arboretum and in sheltered stands.  Our outdoor classroom was used by all classes.

Our motto was " So Grow today and Eat Tomorrow".
